Breathe Calm

My yoga path actually started with meditation to reduce my intense anxiety and panic attacks, a pair that often accompany ADHD.

Over the years I've tried a lot of apps but the Calm app helps stop a panic attacks in its tracks! I love the breathe option… the tune/visual combination helps keep breathing smooth and easier when your central nervous system is glitching out.

I use the the mystic garden and breathe options with Nadi Shodhana and it's AMAZING.

I don't have any incentive to promote the Calm app… other than a desire to share this awesome gem

Ice Cold Post Workout PCW

Working out in the summer can be ROUGH.
In the Phoenix area of Arizona the "monsoon season" is in full swing. Which means it's still 109… but it's also 37% humidity. I have Hashimoto's, an autoimmune disorder that attacks my thyroid, increases fluid retention, and (when heat combined with humidity) takes my already sensitive skin to new levels of unbearableness.
So. You know. Not fun.
Sure, I could stay inside in the air-conditioning,only leaving to jump into my clean, clear, chlorinated swimming pool. However, I crave my favorite studio yoga classes. I gotta have that yoga bliss! But afterwords, it can be a hot, sweaty, UGLY scene!
I have found something that helps though. It is a simple mix of
•a handful of frozen Pineapple
•8 ounces of Coconut Water and
•ice cubes to fill
I mix it up in my shaky-uppy-cuppy right before I leave for the studio and even if I leave it in my car (yikes) it's still ice cold after class!

Not only does it taste awesome, but it has some pretty awesome health benefits, too.
Pineapples contain high amounts of vitamin C and manganese and I'm all about the bromelain an enzyme that reduces inflammation. This is so helpful with fluid retention!
Coconut water is a source of potassium, magnesium, folate, and antioxidants. Not to mention, it is a great way to help flush toxins out of your body after a good workout!

Try it and tell me how you like it in the comments! I just 💜 to chat – Missy

Here I am!

I was gone for a while… but I’m back and so excited!P1090055 (3)

Okay… I’m exhausted, overworked and chronically overscheduled; but I really am excited! I am almost done with my BHS program, I finished my second 200 – hour Yoga Teacher Training and I’m lining up some terrific MBSR – inspired meditation and yoga classes.

It seems like summer just started and yet, here in Arizona, the new school year is only a few weeks away. My LT is super anxious and we are really working on strategies to help in the new year. I’ve been looking into and I think it is a pretty great program.

Do you have any suggestions that have worked for you? Do you find a correlation between anxiety and your ADHD kid or self?

Looking forward to visiting with you all (via comments) again!
